Therapy is a personal journey, and people seek it for many different reasons. Some come to work through long-standing challenges such as anxiety, depression, or trauma, while others seek support during major life transitions like a career change, divorce, or loss of a loved one. Therapy can also be a space for self-discovery, personal growth, or improving relationships.
If you're feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or simply curious about what therapy can offer, it may be worth exploring. At Wholesome Psychology, we provide a safe and supportive space to help you navigate life’s challenges and create meaningful change.
Is therapy confidential?
Yes. Confidentiality is a cornerstone of therapy, and we follow strict ethical guidelines to protect your privacy. There are, however, a few legal and ethical exceptions—such as risk of harm to yourself or others—which we will discuss in detail during your first session.
How long is a therapy session?
Each session is 50 minutes long. The last few minutes are reserved for note-taking and reflection to ensure we continue making meaningful progress in future sessions.
How many sessions will I need?
Therapy is unique to each person. While some individuals experience positive change within 4-6 sessions, others may benefit from longer-term support. Short-term therapy (6-18 sessions) is often enough for focused concerns, while more complex or long-standing issues may require ongoing sessions. We will work together to determine what’s best for you.
How much does therapy cost?
Please visit our Cost of Therapy page for detailed pricing information. We also offer 50% off the first session to make it easier for new clients to get started.
Do you offer direct billing to insurance providers?
Yes! We can directly bill most health insurance providers. If you have questions about your coverage, our administrative team is happy to help. Feel free to call us at (780) 904 4880 for more details.
What if I can’t make my appointment?
We understand that life happens! If you need to cancel or reschedule, please provide at least 24 hours' notice to avoid a cancellation fee. Appointments canceled with less than 24 hours’ notice will be charged the full session fee.

What if I’m not sure if Wholesome Psychology is the right fit?
Finding the right therapist is important, and we want you to feel comfortable in your decision. That’s why we offer 50% off the first session, allowing you to explore our approach with less financial commitment. If we’re not the best fit, we’re happy to provide referrals to other professionals who may better suit your needs.
Do you offer online therapy?
Yes! We provide secure online therapy sessions for clients who prefer the flexibility of virtual appointments. Whether you're in Edmonton or elsewhere in Alberta, you can receive support from the comfort of your own space.
What happens in the first session?
The first session is a chance to get to know your therapist and discuss what brought you to therapy. We’ll explore your goals, background, and any concerns you have. It’s also a time for you to ask questions and see if we’re a good fit for your needs.
Can I choose my therapist?
Absolutely! We believe that finding the right fit is key to successful therapy. You can request a specific therapist based on availability, and we’ll do our best to match you with someone suited to your needs. You can also use the matching tool on our website, which will provide you with recommendations based on your needs.
What should I do if therapy doesn’t seem to be helping?
Therapy is a process, and change takes time. However, if you feel like therapy isn’t working for you, we encourage open communication with your therapist. We can adjust our approach, explore new techniques, or help you find a professional who better meets your needs.
Do you provide crisis services?
No, we do not offer immediate crisis intervention. If you’re in crisis or need urgent support, please contact: - 911 (if in immediate danger) - The Mental Health Help Line (Alberta): 1-877-303-2642 - Crisis Services Canada: 1-833-456-4566 (call) or text 45645
Can therapy help even if I don’t have a mental health diagnosis?
Absolutely! Therapy is not just for those with a diagnosis—it’s for anyone looking to improve their well-being, navigate life’s challenges, or gain deeper self-awareness.
