Melanie Anderson

Registered Provisional Psychologist

I am committed to helping individuals navigate life’s challenges while recognizing and building upon their existing strengths. My decade of experience working within the federal justice system has provided insight into complex human experiences and the psychological demands of frontline work, reinforcing the importance of meeting each client with respect, curiosity, and an appreciation for their unique life context.
I believe psychotherapy should honour both dignity and humanity, particularly during periods of distress. I strive to create a safe, nonjudgmental, and collaborative therapeutic environment where concerns can be explored with care and patience. A strong and trusting therapeutic relationship is central to my work, and I value an approach that acknowledges the role of relationships, attachment patterns, and intersecting identities in mental health.

My work focuses on strengthening mental and emotional well-being, building resilience, and improving overall psychological functioning. I use an integrative, individually tailored approach that draws from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, exposure-based interventions, and trauma-informed care, while incorporating attachment-focused principles. I support clients in approaching difficult thoughts, emotions, and experiences in a way that promotes regulation, meaning-making, and long-term recovery, and I recognize the courage it takes to seek support, particularly for individuals working in high-demand, high-responsibility, and self-reliant frontline roles.
