As a practicum student under the supervision of a Registered Psychologist, I am currently offering counselling services at a reduced rate. This role provides a valuable learning opportunity, allowing me to deliver compassionate care and contribute meaningfully to client well-being.
I believe therapy is a collaborative process, and I strive to create a space where clients feel respected, supported, and actively involved in their own growth. Before entering the counselling field, I spent more than 20 years working as a junior and senior high school teacher. This experience has given me a strong understanding of the academic, social, emotional, and developmental challenges that adolescents and young adults can face. Throughout my teaching career, I have worked with students with a wide range of learning, behavioural, and mental health needs, including ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, OCD, anxiety, and mood-related concerns. This work has strengthened my appreciation for individual differences and the importance of looking beyond behaviour to understand each person’s needs, experiences, and strengths. It also played an important role in my decision to pursue counselling and continues to shape my interest in supporting adolescents and young adults,
while also working with adults across different stages of life.
My approach to counselling is warm, collaborative, and strengths-based. I aim to help clients better understand themselves, recognize patterns that may be contributing to their challenges, and develop practical strategies that fit their individual needs and goals. I also recognize that
each client’s experiences are shaped by their culture, identity, relationships, and broader life context, and I approach these differences with curiosity, respect, and openness. My clinical practice is primarily informed by Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and
Commitment Therapy (ACT), while also drawing from DBT-informed strategies, person-centred, solution-focused, mindfulness-based, and trauma-informed approaches.
Whether you are navigating anxiety, low mood, stress, life transitions, relationship concerns, or patterns that feel difficult to change, my goal is to work alongside you to build greater understanding, confidence, and practical ways to move toward what matters most to you.
